Performs various functions in support of operations of the Detention Center, such as answering the phone, filling, typing, copying, doing mail, assists with inventory, prepares and assists with reconciling travel, runs errands, greets guests, and issues visitor passes.
- Receives incoming telephone calls to the Detention Center and greets visitors, takes messages, responds to general questions concerning the programs and refers to appropriate staff.
- Weighs and stamps all outgoing mail and delivers to Post Office, Council House, Mail Room or other locations as necessary. Also collects mail from same routes to appropriate stall/or Division department.
- Assists Detention Center personnel in acquisition of equipment, as needed.
- Assists Property Officer for the detention center; assists with the inventory of Detention Center property.
- Makes copies as required for correspondence, invoices, incoming mail, etc.
- Acquires signatures travel requests, and other documents as required.
- Sends, receives and distributes facsimiles.
- Performs job duties according to established safety guidelines and Tribal policies.
- Log inmate visitors into JMS and keep track of video visitation.
- Ensure contract employees, lawyers, and visitors are signing in and out on log books.
- Assist with logging in inmate mail.
This position is not responsible for supervising others. Works under the direct supervision of the Jail Administrator. Must be able to perform duties without constant supervision and be able to perform independently in compliance with all State, Federal, Tribal laws, rules and regulations.
Experience: One (1) year of related experience required. Experience to include clerical employment or related field.
Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.
Licenses & Certifications: Valid, insurable NC Driver’s License required.
