Assists in the identification of prospective grant opportunities for all divisions, provides grant application assistance and administration on behalf of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Maintains strong working relationships with management, colleagues, Tribal Divisions, Tribal Leadership and grantors in order to effectively identify grant and contract funding opportunities that are in line with identified Tribal priorities, projects, goals and objectives. Assists programs in the identification of grant opportunities, writing of grant applications, preparation of grant budgets, acceptance of award, and assists in the tracking of awarded grants and contracts
- Identify and research funding opportunities that match Tribal priorities, projects, goals and objectives.
- Applies managerial and administrative practice toward the Tribe’s grant and contract applications.
- Conduct quarterly meetings within Divisions to identify current funding needs to ensure the most efficient funding streams are being utilized.
- Works in conjunction with Grants Analysts to prepare and ensure resolutions presented to council are accurate and free from error regarding the proposed funding application.
- Periodically attend Tribal Leadership meetings regarding capital needs to stay up to date with Division needs.
- Assist with design and upkeep of file systems and databases of all grants/contracts that are applied for by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. That information is stored and will provide grant related data and assist with the integration of this information to other Tribal entities when applicable to provide prospective grant plans and status reports.
- Coordinates in-depth research and assists in the preparation of application packages for Federal, State and non- profit foundations, and designated agencies directed at projects that have been identified.
- Provides direction for the research and maintenance of current grant information relative to the status and needs of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians by Division.
- Assists in the identification of all available grant and contract resources and seeks grant and contract funding for these prospective projects through private, State, Federal, and Local offices and organizations.
- Provides expertise in the writing and preparation of various grant applications, grant development issues, grant research, and analysis.
- Ensure the software utilized by the Grants Management Office is up to date with the most current data for all Tribal grants.
- Develops, coordinates, and maintains a professional relationship with Tribal divisions providing technical support, information and assistance directed at the expansion of services or improved efficiency of program operation.
- Tracks, reviews and respond to comments when Tribe is denied a grant or contract for a favorable result for future applications.
- Maintains all reports, records, files and logs as required.

Responsible for professional, timely and accurate work product that meets the goals and objectives of the Office of Budget & Finance. Works under the general guidance Senior Grant Writer and the Manager - Grants. Has latitude for independent thinking and judgment in the attainment of goals and objectives of the Office of Budget & Finance. Must be able to perform duties independently and possess the ability to work as part of a team.
Experience:Applicant should have a strong background or experience in strategic planning and management. One (1) year of experience in municipal, county, regional, Tribal planning and or grant application preparation is required.
Education: A BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, planning, or business is required.
Licenses & Certifications: Valid, insurable NC Driver’s License required.
