Provides assistance and support to the Ethics Officer to carry out a comprehensive ethics strategy for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Performs various duties and maintains specified records, files and logs ensuring accurate reporting of activities. Maintains a positive public relations image and promotes a culture of ethical conduct. Coordinates the ethics training program and develops educational materials. Assists with ethical investigations as needed. Prepares reports and other correspondences for dissemination upon the direction and approval of the Ethics Officer.
- Provides support typing and proofreading letters, memos, request for proposals, reports, publications and other documents from the Ethics Officer and following up with e-mails and all correspondences.
- Coordinates the daily operations of the ethics program including but not limited to, maintaining the calendar, and entering appointment data regarding fixed meetings, appointments, and conferences.
- Maintains files, records, and logs in support of the ethics program.
- Attends and maintains minutes of meetings.
- Keeps Ethics Officer informed of Tribal law, regulation, policy, and procedure changes. Also maintains and updates manuals for changes in regulatory requirements and procedures.
- Attends meetings and training as needed and reports and delivers information as required.
- Conducts or facilitates training workshops, presentations, and other educational programs on how to comply with ethics law and encouraging ethical conduct.
- Assists with ethics investigations performing related research, preparing, and maintaining support documentation, and writing reports as necessary.
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
- Performs duties according to established safety guidelines and Tribal policy.
This position is not responsible for supervising others. Works under the specific direction of the Ethics Officer, where definite objectives or goals are established. Uses methods and procedures established by the ethics profession to achieve desired results. Refers cases of ethics violations, fraud and matters of legal interpretation to the Ethics Officer or Chief Audit & Ethics Executive.
Experience: Three (3) years of related experience required. Experience to include 3 years in management, public affairs/administration, human resources, and auditing or compliance.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.
Licenses & Certifications: Valid, insurable NC Driver’s License required. Certification as an ethics professional is preferred or must be obtained within two (2) years.
