Supervisor - Social Services
Description

Identifies, oversees, and assists senior citizens for eligibility of services provided by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Responsibilities
  • Implements and coordinates Senior Citizen Heat and Emergency Assistance.
  • Assists with arrangements to ensure appropriate space and content to conduct all program activities.
  • Completes contracts/MOAs for purposes of Heating Assistance.
  • Completes contracts for bid purposes for work to be done by outside contracting services.
  • Ensures all contracted services adhere to contractual agreements.
  • Interviews clients in depth to determine eligibility for benefits.
  • Works in conjunction with SSI, County, DRS Offices, Medicare/Medicaid, Tribal programs and other related agencies to assist clients in establishing eligibility requirements for benefits.
  • Provides claims advocacy for clients when needed.
  • Assists with food stamps, general assistance programs, and other programs with social Services, Veterans Administration benefits, USDA commodities, and Senior Citizens programs.
  • Files reports and provides follow-up required.
  • Prepares Title III reports and facilitates the Title III grant and Part C of Title IV.
  • Implements and coordinates the tax preparation program for senior citizens.
  • Assess client needs for information and/or assistance.
  • On-call for emergencies year round, 24/7 as needed.
  • Performs job duties according to established safety guidelines and Tribal Policies.
Scope of Supervision

Directly supervises two (2) subordinates. Supervises procedures and personnel in the activities, receptionist, and outreach areas. Has the responsibility for operations, methods, personnel, and expenditures of funds. Works under the general direction of the Manager - Senior Citizens. Has wide latitude for the exercise of initiatives, discretion, and independent judgement.

Minimum Mandatory Qualifications

Experience: Three (3) years of related experience required. Experience to include progressive responsibility in the Social Work field.

Education: Associate’s Degree in related field required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be in lieu of degree, with required related experience of an additional: 3 years with a High School Diploma/GED equivalent.

Licenses & Certifications: Valid, insurable NC Driver’s License required. Must possess or be able to obtain CPR/First aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
