Performs various daily duties in the Tribal Recycling Program such as collection, sorting and bailing of recyclables, etc.
- Performs various daily duties in the Tribal Recycling program such as collection, sorting, and bailing of recyclables, etc.
- Performs scheduled recyclable collection services for area businesses, campgrounds, and residents that utilize the Tribal Recycling program.
- Assist the supervisor with awareness programs presented to school children, community clubs and civic organizations.
- Wears proper safety items such as steel toe boots, heavy work gloves, safety glasses, etc.
- Operates machinery used in the processing of waste and recyclables such as cardboard bails, bails of plastics, glass crusher, pallet jack, etc., operates heavy equipment including loaders and forklifts.
- Operates pickup truck to move trailers, and occasionally operates a flatbed truck.
- Inspects the equipment daily to ensure it is ready to operate by checking belts, fluid levels, etc., makes minor corrections as necessary and reports any potential major malfunctions to recycling coordinator to schedule necessary repairs.
- Attends workshops, seminars and conferences pertaining to this job position.
- Maintains a professional relationship with the area businesses and residents.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work site.
- Prepares a daily worksheet which is turned in to the Supervisor - Recycling.
- Assists and provides backup for other personnel and departments as required.
- Performs job duties according to established safety guidelines and Tribal policies.
- May at times be required to assist with the duties of all 4 programs of the Solid Waste Department, including Collections, Recycling, Composting, and Transfer Station.
This position is supervised by program leadership. This position is not responsible for supervising others.
Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be in lieu of degree, with required related experience of an additional 1 year.
Licenses & Certifications: Valid, insurable NC Driver’s License required. Valid, insurable NC "Class C" CDL required.
