Description

The 911 Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of 911 addressing, including road naming, address verification, and
map file updates using GIS systems. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of address requests from the public,
businesses, and government entities. The Coordinator also oversees the installation and maintenance of road signage to ensure
compliance with safety standards. The position requires independent judgment and initiative to maintain efficiency and
accuracy in the 911 addressing process, supporting emergency services in a professional and responsive manner.

Responsibilities

• Administer and Operate CodeRED, reverse 9-1-1, and iPAWS systems. Administer 9-1-1 voice recording system.
• Receive and complete requests for 9-1-1 records.
• Manage 9-1-1 AT&T Public Safety Platform.
• Administer 9-1-1 Dispatch mapping software by updating and maintaing GEO data.
• Manage and maintain 9-1-1 GIS Database and data.
• Coordinate GIS server configuarations with the OIT.
• Coordinate with adjacent PSAP’s to maintain the jurisdictional boundaries.
• Assist EBCI, the public, and outside agencies with 9-1-1 adressing inquiries.
• Complete 9-1-1 address verifications for individuals as well as Tribal entities.
• Complete various tasks and duties assigned by Public Safety Communications Center Program Manager.Assist
individuals and businesses with acquiring new 911 address.
• Assist individuals and Tribal entities with naming public and private roadways.
• Provide and maintain correct 9-1-1 data for Duke Energy, USPS, UPS, FedEx, and adjacent PSAP’s.
• Cooridnate and lead 9-1-1 committee meetings.
• Perform routine updates to NC State GeoComm Portal. Assist Emergency Services with GIS web maps, applications,
and dashboards.
• Manage street sign inventory and replenish as needed.
• Install street signage as needed. Obtain GPS coordinates for new construction houses, driveways, trails, roadways, and
gates and input data into the GIS 9-1-1 database.

Scope of Supervision

This position is supervised by program leadership. This position is not responsible for supervising others.

Minimum Mandatory Qualifications

Experience:     A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a GIS-related role, with a focus on mapping, address verification, or emergency service support is required.

Education:    Associate’s Degree in related field required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be in lieu of degree, with required related experience of an additional; or three (3) years with a High School Diploma/GED equivalent.

Licenses & Certifications:    Valid, insurable NC Driver’s License required.

Key Job Knowledge

• Must have comprehensive knowledge of the CodeRED Reverse 9-1-1 system and iPAWS for public safety notifications, including system administration, confiuguration, and usage for emergency alerts. In-depth understanding of 911 voice recording systems, including backup procedures and managing records requests for legal or opertaional purposes.
• Proficient in managing and maintaining 9-1-1 AT&T Public Safety platforms to ensure consistent service and accurate data.
• Thorough knowledge of the 9-1-1 dispatch software, including CAD, MDS< MDIS, specifically for updates to mapping and system capabilities.
• Expertise in 911 GIS databses, including data management, updates, and integration with CAD systems. This includes maintaining spatial accuracy for 911 addressing.
• Skilled in coordingating GIS server configurations and updates.
• Ability to work collaboratively with adjacent PSAPs.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Other duties include maintaining files, utilizing key logs and acting as a representative of the EBCI.
• Must be able to identify the main highways/ roadways within the Tribal 911 system.
